Candida Albicans is a yeast that commonly lines the intestinal tract of every human being. It is generally kept in control by good microorganisms- gut bacteria that we refer to as “probiotics.” The bacteria to yeast ratio is 10:1. Drugs such as antibiotics, birth control pills, hormones, steroids, antacids, dairy products laden with toxic bacteria, alcohol, etc, lead to the deprivation of healthy bacteria, and thus candida overgrowth. Candidiasis of the gut can lead to leaky gut, food sensitivities, inflammation in joints, and eczema. Common symptoms are bloating, gas, cramps after eating, constipation, poor concentration, irritability, and brain fog. Successful treatment with herbs, nutraceuticals, and diet changes is effective and feasible.
